30’s are the best!
…. I am sure that I will say the same about my 40’s and 50’s and so on… Simply because life as a whole is the best!
30’s are awesome!
But again, I’m sorry 30’s are the best! You still kind of look like your twenties, but you gain more confidence and more life experience. At least that’s the case for me, I am also taking myself less seriously, I stopped trying to be perfect, and I am embracing my real self more and more everyday… In your 30’s you realise the importance of family and genuine relationships. You are also more picky with your time, and consequently only giving it to people that you love and/or admire.
In a word let’s say that 30’s is the decade of acceptance.
And that’s so relieving!
So yesterday was my birthday, I turnedĀ 31 years old and celebrating in Tulum. But seriously, these last days have been feeling like my birthday everyday, so I am not particularly excited. I am living my dream life, I’ve been manifesting it and day-dreaming about it for years…. and now it’s happening!
The lack of excitement is surprising for me. Because, I will not lie, I am one of those annoying people who are excited about their birthdays at least a month before. Birthdays have always been a big deal in my family and I am a little bit sad to be away from my mom and my sister this year. But hey, I’m in Tulum!! š
So far, I’ve already had the best gift! A long message from my younger and only sister whom I quote: “I am thankful that I was raised by such amazing creative strong independent smart women, and that I get to use this strength every single day of my life”. Isn’t she the best? She always finds a unique way to make me emotional in my birthday when she’s not here. Either with a sweet message like this one, or by making something stupid that would make laugh my a– off, like last year.

Life update and realities of freelance
A year ago, I announced a big change in my life: here,Ā and having my birthday linked to this big event makes it extra special. The travel part certainly took more time than expected, but it’s also better than expected. We had to create new ways of making money for ourselves, and keep it sustainable on the go. But it’s still challenging, it’s like being fresh out of college again, after an established career for both my husband and I. So we had to re-build everything from scratch: skills, contacts, reputation, process… In a business that didn’t exist 10 years ago and that is still not taught in school. It’s a lot of learning by doing, trial and error and a one-way ticket out of the comfort zone!
But it’s been nothing but pleasure and adrenaline. You know you’re doing the right thing when you’re not counting your hours anymore! And the good side of it, is that if you want to spend a morning in a park in Mexico city, you can!! You make your own hours. If you are more productive in the mornings, do the work in the morning. If not, then do it the other way.
I deeply believe that we can make a sustainable lifestyle out it. If not, at least we will have nothing to regret and live the best time of our lives! Better sorry than safe I would say š And if I can wish for something today, is that our journey can inspire you to live life to the fullest and pursue your dreams. Not necessarily the clichĆ© quit-your-job-to-travel millennial clichĆ© like us (Oops! There I said it!), but anything that your heart desires, from the crazy childhood dreams to trying that cool Krav Maga class that you’ve been contemplating for a while, or having a baby like a lot of our friends, or starting a side hustle…. Really anything! Replace fear with adrenaline, the kind of rush that makes you move forward and be excited about getting up in the morning.
– So if you are < 30, rest assured everything will be okay. Life is not that complicated, just take care of your body and mind and everything will be fine.
– If you are in your 30’s, you rock!
– If you are > 30 you probably rock even harder and we would love to know why!
Birthday celebration at Kin Toh Tulum
Omar aka M.Moustache took me to a blogger’s paradise yesterday for the first part of my birthday celebration. It’s called Kin Toh, a part of the well-known Azulik hotel. Why is it special? Well it’s a lounge bar in a form of nests above a jungle with a sea view… Even saying it now it sounds surreal. I’m 31, I don’t get impressed easily anymore and yesterday I was impressed! The sun sets on the jungle side and it’s magical.
The cocktails were average but the view comepletely compensates. The only real downside is: it’s so visually striking that most of the people come for the pictures… Well I can’t complain I am guilty of that myself, but it must be annoying for someone who is here to enjoy a quiet sunset with a view. There were people striking poses EVERYWHERE, politely asking you to move away for their pictures and so on. But again, it’s a one in a lifetime experience and I still totally recommend it, I am just giving you all the information so you can decide for yourself. Staying there must be even more magical!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY again ^^ this looks paradisiac and it’s so refreshing to read such inspirational thoughts about 30+ birthdays, rather than depressed people feeling old and sorry for themselves haha
You rock girl and keep on enjoying and giving us honest impressions about the places you visit
P.S.: “Better sorry than safe I would say” I’ll carve this quote somewhere in my room :DD
