Friday mood: Hello fall!

Oct 5, 2018Journal, Life

Temperatures are slowly dropping and the fall mood is taking place, even in our alternative beach universe. It’s time to get your cardigans and cozy knits out.

We are recovering from a seasonal flu, like so many of you on Instagram. I’m grateful that it happened now though, we are preparing for a full month of projects and travel plans, and we will need all our energy reserves to make everything work. As per the previous Friday moods, here are random updates and favourites of the moment.

Fohr mentorship program

Fohr is a media agency in New York that I follow regularly. They always come up with innovative ideas and new tools to help both brands and influencers. I love their serie “A drink with James” on Youtube, first for James’s (CEO) witty personalty and New York sarcasm, second because he gives tips and insights about an industry that has been very secret so far.

After several diversity scandals within the fashion industry, accused to often work with the same bloggers and profiles: white skinny Instagram models, the inclusivity and diversity debate is very heated right now especially in the US. Fohr launched a mentorship pilot program that is meant to provide mentorship, access and networking opportunities to influencers who typically have been excluded by the industry.

I wrote a killer application letter and I would love to have the opportunity to learn, improve and prove myself. I’m aware that have a weird blogging profile: Arab woman, with an International audience (mainly in the US) with no fixed location. So, sometimes the brands don’t know where to put me. I hate being put in a box anyway 🙂

Random favourites

Movie

Coco the Diney-Pixar movie. Perfect for a family cozy Sunday afternoon. I love the Mexican visuals, it reminds me a lot of our time spent in Mexican villages and the story is unique, fun, moving, a beautiful soundtrack. Prepare to shed a few tears 🙂

Shampoo

I really love the Maui Moisture line that I discovered in the american continent. But I didn’t find it here and the shipment costs are crazy. So I had to find an alternative, and so far, I am very pleased by the smell, the clean composition and the texture of my new shampoo: Inecto. You know my weakness for coconut!

Couple’s therapy podcast

Don’t be fooled by the name, this podcast is so much fun! It’s an entertaining and authentic serie of conversations between Casey Neistat and his wife Candice Pool. And while I love his videos and overall work, this podcast feels like a more female-friendly type of content. They talk about life, parenthood, marriage, career in a very natural, laid-back way and I enjoy listening to them while I make breakfast in the morning. You can find on all podcast apps: Itunes.

Food

Figs, nectarines, raisins and all yummy fall fruits, homemade granola, chia seed pudding, and avo toasts (because avocados are finally reaching reasonable prices) and slowly moving to warmer foods, oatmeal, soups and warm salads.

Wishlist

In a mood for prints, fur, a splash of colour in my warmer outfits.

I’ve been eying the Mango cowboy boot for a while, and this bright red is really calling my name.

I’m glad that leopard is in trend, I’ve always loved this print i have a whole Pinterest Leopard dedicated board. some find it tacky, I think it’s a basic when worn tastefully. I wrote an article a while ago about how to style leopard print: here and I can’t wait to wear my leopard faux-fur in the winter.

Add a baby blue structured sweater, a purple band tee and a white faux-fur jacket and you have my dream outfit for the colder days. I am really loving the purple and leopard combo!

Affordable lounge outfit

My fall indoors uniform formula: culotte pants, cardigan, tube top and my UO fur sandals. A good compromise to be comfortable but not in your pyjamas if like me you work from home, or spend a lot of time at home in general.

Upcoming post: Saya Designs

My project with Saya designs is wrapped. Saya designs is ethical hair accessories brand. You often see me wearing their hair sticks on my Instagram. I filmed a video tutorials for three of their accessories and I can’t wait to share them with you!
