The best place to find affordable designer pieces: New York haul

Sep 28, 2018Fashion, Style

Shopping is part of experiencing New York. The stores there are from another planet, and I ended up visiting some of them as museums (Hello Victoria Secret top floor on 5th Avenue). To be honest, it was a little bit overwhelming. In the last years I’ve been so used to shop online that I found myself completely overwhelmed once in a store. Online, I can filter per category, colours, style, collection and sort by price and popularity. But still a store is a way to experience the brand in a different way, touch the items and try them.

Favourite bohemian chic stores

Those who know me can guess my top 3 visited stores: Free People, Anthropologie and Urban outfitters. If not for shopping, at least for inspiration and a dose of well curated beauty in a free-spirited modern bohemian universe. Above the clothes, those brands are a huge inspiration for me as a creative. I love their collections but also their editorials, blogs, instagram page and everything related to their universe. And they happen to be a part of the same group. Remember my excitement when I first visited a Free People store in Miami:First time in Miami.

I am not a frenetic shopper as you may know, but it was the end of a long travel and I needed a wardrobe refresh and some basics. Plus I don’t have the opportunity to shop at my favourite brands directly in the store. I was still wise and lucky enough to shop on sale season so I scored amazing deals.

The best place to find affordable designer goods

If you are thrifty like me, I really recommend you to go to T.J Maxx! I knew TJ Maxx in Europe, but the American version is another story. They have all the current boholoxe brands such as: Free People, Johnny was, Billabong, Band of Gypsies… And the prices are crazy. I saw things like Michael Kors bags for 50 USD and Fossil sunglasses for 20 USD. With a wide range of styles and sizes. To cover the whole store you need to spend the weekend there! It’s the perfect place to shop for basics and staples at a very reasonable price: bag, suitcase, denim, tee-shirts, shoes… I went to the one near the flat iron building: here.

I discovered a beautiful designer named Adrienne Vittadini, who creates amazing quality designs for a very affordable price. The price is even more affordable at T.J Maxx. I was in need of a new backpack to replace my Herschel and a smaller wallet and I found just the perfect fit.
